Description
This authentic black silk antique kimono was traditionally worn by Japanese warriors beneath their armor (yoroi). No longer manufactured, such pieces are increasingly rare and prized by martial arts practitioners, collectors, and cultural connoisseurs. Japanese men wear this type of kimono only on very formal occasions such as weddings or ceremonial arts performances.
Because new silk kimonos are prohibitively expensive, most people now buy or rent polyester alternatives. This vintage piece allows access to true heritage quality at an exceptional value.
Use & Styling
This kimono is worn in martial tradition as practiced by Japanese shihans (masters), often paired with a striped hakama (Umanori Shima), keikogi, tabi, and setta or zori. It is ideal for Iaido, Kenjutsu, Battojutsu, and other martial demonstrations. Can also be worn for zazen meditation or cultural performance.
Note: Belt not included. Available separately in our store.

🎥 Cultural Highlight – Iconic in Japanese Cinema
Particularity: This type of kimono, adorned with the Kenkatabami crest, is famously worn by the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune in the role of Sanjuro in the classic samurai film "Yojimbo", directed by Akira Kurosawa. This garment is a visual reference to one of the most iconic portrayals of the samurai in Japanese cinema.

Comfortable and visually stunning
Just the right size.
As this belt was a replacement for my original black belt from 2003, I am very pleased to say that it has the same feel and quality of my previous belt. I teach karate 5 days a week, so I need a belt that stands the test of time. I am positive that this is it!
Confortable et parfsit pour ma taille de pied. C’est super a porter a l’interieur :)
An amazing Gi. More like a samurai robe. Where the tk-10 is stone this is water, not flimsy but heavy but flows like a powerful river. Amazing quality.
I ordered this product as a replacement for a cheap Chinese samue that lasted roughly 3 weeks. This one is on another level. I am 182 cm and 83 kg and the 2L fits me nicely. Although based on the leg length a L would have also worked. The cloth has a nice thickness and texture to it. International shipping was fast. Would definitely recommend...it would also be really nice if this shop would have an European reseller, preferably in Germany ;)
A beautiful, high-quality product — it's a pity about the customs charges for Italy.
I ordered a new Shureido belt on a Thursday and it arrived in Australia the following Monday. That is fantastic service and I would be happy to purchase from the Bujindo store again.
Very very happy. Super quality and productsp
Easy communication, fast delivery and top notch quality of material. I can't be happier. Thank you so much
